Excited Storyteller

When teachers assign an essay, students usually groan. I was the kid excited to write.

I grew up thrilled by the choppy sentences and plot in Firestarter, enveloped in the world of Ender’s Game, and pining over The Time Travelor’s Wife. Adult favorite books include heartstring-tugger Tuesdays with Morrie, the contemplative and gorgeously woven Artful, and the succulent poeticism in anything by Simon Bay Booy, Lauren Groff, or Billy O'Callaghan. Right now I’m reading baby and parenting books.

I love solving the puzzle of writing. To me, writing is excavation into each idea, digging deeper and deeper. A puzzle to find the right words, to dissect sentences into parts and rearrange them for the perfect picture.
